About Linda McCartney

Linda McCartney was an American photographer and musician, the first female to take a cover photo for the Rolling Stones. Known for taking pictures of many famous musicians, bands and artists, she later photographed her family, horses and landscapes and processed prints in Cyanotype.

McCartney (1941–1998) photographed the musicians of the 1960s, from Aretha Franklin and Jimi Hendrix to The Beatles, with a candid intimacy that set her apart, and she was the first woman to shoot a cover of Rolling Stone magazine. In her later career she experimented with historical printing processes, including the sun prints in which her images are exposed and developed by sunlight alone.
